Coaching and Development Service
We have successfully retained for the third successive occasion major quality award for excellence in offering information, advice and guidance to retired and retiring police officers seeking civilian employment. The matrix Standard is the government quality Standard for any organisation that supports individuals, enabling them to make informed choices about their future.
A comprehensive Coaching and Development Service is provided at Maryfield, Holywood and other locations in Northern Ireland to eligible and self funding clients.
One-to-one sessions with a Careers Coach are designed to help you identify personal skills, abilities and aptitudes. We offer you information, advice and guidance to help you make informed decisions about the kind of future you want after you retired from service. These options include planning a new career, choosing a job, education and training opportunities and pursuing an active retirement.
Career Development:
A Careers Coach will focus on supporting you through a process to determine the most suitable job or career goals for you through a number of one to one sessions. This involves reflecting on the experience and expertise you gained during your police career, previous employment experience and other activities including your hobbies, interests and other responsibilities. A personal skills assessment is completed to break down the number of skills you use to perform a range of police duties. This assessment provides you with an opportunity to build confidence and recognition of all your personal abilities, and the relevance of the identified skills to other jobs and careers. We also offer you a range of employability modules which complement the coaching process, and help you to achieve your goal. Workshops include:
Active Retirement:
Paid employment, another career or retraining for work may not be the right focus or option for you for personal or health related reasons. If this is the case, a Careers Coach is available to discuss other options for you. These will include learning new skills, unpaid work, volunteering, and training and education opportunities. A Careers Coach is available for a number of one to one sessions to help you identify suitable opportunities and define goals based on your personal interests, experience and expertise.
Information Resource Centre:
A range of information resources to support your decision making process is provided through an Information Resource Centre which you can access in person, by telephone or e-mail. This resource enables you to make informed decisions on the basis of readily available, current information about careers, jobs and training and education courses.
