Discretionary grants may be available to clients who wish to pursue a particular course of study or training course which is not provided as part of the current PRRT offering. This course of study or training course must be such that it underpins a future career plan. A discretionary grant application should be completed at an assessment interview with a Training Assessor or by a careers advisor if the client is engaged in a careers advice process Discretionary Grant Funding may be available to:

There is an annual maximum contribution available from the Discretionary Grant arrangement * Serving or retired officers may receive 50% of the total cost of the course of study/training course, to a maximum of £800 in one year Evidence of course completion will be required and a staged payment system will operate * Medically retired officers may receive 75% of the total cost of the course of study/training course, to a maximum of £1,000 in one year Evidence of course completion will be required and a staged payment system will operate Applications for Discretionary Grant Funding may include:

Funding is not available for training/education courses that have received funding from any other funding body or for training/education courses provided or presented outside the UK. Funding may be available for eligible clients living outside Northern Ireland, and will be considered on an individual basis by the Discretionary Grant Review Panel.
