There are many thousands of programs, the ones mentioned
above are examples. They are NOT a recommendation,
however they are the programs you will see advertised
in bundles with computers.

When buying software check the programs requirements,
e.g. operating system, RAM, any special details. When buying
either hardware or software, price is not everything. Consider
what support is available as well. Talk to people who have
experience of the system you are considering.
Operating Software (makes the hardware
work)
The are 2 choices Windows PC or Apple Mac
The hardware you buy determines the operation system
Windows PCs
PCs require Windows now running Windows XP
PCs can run a system called Linux but you need to know
what you are doing.
Apples Mac
Apples run a system called OSX 10.3.
Do not rule out the Apple Mac it is an excellent
home computer at a good price. There is plenty of software
for them although most has to be bought by mail order
as there tends to be little on display (PC World does
a few)
