NEW CAB OUTREACH SERVICE AT PRRT'S MARYFIELD SITE

PRRT clients are now able to access the services of the Citizens Advice Bureau each Wednesday morning at PRRT’s Maryfield site.

The partnership between PRRT’s Careers Guidance and Personal Development Service and the Citizens Advice Bureau Outreach Service will enable clients to access the information and advice, which is both free of charge and independent, normally available through the CAB network of high-street advice centres.  This includes information and advice on benefit and housing issues, appeals and debt management.

Sandra Herdman, Head of Careers Guidance and Personal Development, PRRT said: “The service, which will run for an initial three-month period to April 2006, will be delivered by fully-trained, professional advisers from the Ards Citizen Advice Bureau.  Advice and information is given on a confidential one-to-one basis and clients can also access help with the completion of benefit and allowance applications.”

The Citizens Advice Bureau network is the largest provider of free, independent money advice in the UK.  Annually, CAB advisors assist more than 5.6 million people.

The service is available to all eligible PRRT clients, including retired officers.  All information and advice will be provided by the Outreach Worker based at Maryfield, with the exception of ‘appeals’ which will be referred to the relevant local CAB office following an initial consultation.
