OFFICERS GIVE PRRT THEIR VOTE OF CONFIDENCE IN LATEST CLIENT SURVEY

More than 50% of eligible serving and retired police officers have used the Police Rehabilitation and Retraining Trust’s (PRRT) services over the past seven years. In a recent survey carried out by Independent Data Analysis Ltd on the behalf of PRRT, 90% of clients were at least satisfied with the quality of the service they received from the Trust, with more than half of these respondents saying they were very satisfied.  Confidence in service provision was borne out by 95% of users indicating they would be willing to use PRRT again.

Levels of awareness of the services offered by PRRT are high, with the Training and Education and the Careers Guidance and Personal Development services ranking first and second.  The pattern of service usage is significantly different between serving and former officers.  While Training and Education was the most frequently used service by both serving and former officers, the second most frequently used service for serving officers was Careers Guidance and Personal Development and Physiotherapy for former officers.  This distinction can be attributed to the age profile of the two groups of officers, and the protocol for serving officers accessing healthcare through OHW.

Edward Gorringe, Chief Executive, PRRT said “This has been an important exercise that will help us plan service delivery in the short to medium term future.  It has offered eligible service users a voice to express what support they will need from the Trust to achieve their work/life balance after policing.  The findings demonstrate that there is scope for improving awareness of other PRRT services such as the Job Register.  Serving and retired officers have indicated that greater use of email is the preferred method of telling people about our services, backed up with direct mail.  This reinforces the importance of our recently launched email information system; once again, we would urge clients with email addresses to ensure that they provide us with their contact details so that we can email relevant information directly to their inbox.”

“Almost all of the improvements suggested by clients are already in place, such as extensive regional delivery of healthcare and Careers Guidance province wide, frequent information updates and live job vacancies through our information resource centres.  We need now to promote the availability of these services and where they may be accessed.  There were a small minority of respondents who sought a wider geographical spread of PRRT training courses.  It still remains a priority for the Trust to meet such needs by running regional courses where sufficient numbers of clients from an area seek to enrol on the same course.”
