‘matrix’ quality standard hat-trick for PRRT
Last month saw PRRT’s Personal Development and Employment Transition Service (PDETS) achieve the ‘matrix’ standard for the third time. ‘matrix’ is the national quality standard for the delivery and management of information, advice and guidance services. The PDETS was recognised for its excellence in delivering information, advice and guidance to serving and retired police officers. The team has been successfully providing professional advice and guidance in the areas of personal and professional development since 1999.
Having won the first ‘matrix’ in 2004 and then in 2007, the PDETS sought re-accreditation against the ‘matrix’ standard to ensure that service provision continues to meet this quality standard, and to identify any new areas for development. Continuous achievement of the ‘matrix’ highlights the excellent standard of this service. Sandra Herdman, Head of the Service commented: “the achievement of ‘matrix’ for the third time revalidates the commitment of the staff to providing a high quality service responsive to the needs of clients”.
Assessment against the standard is a rigorous process, a ‘matrix’ assessor met with staff and clients over three days to gather information regarding their experience of using and working for the organisation. The Assessor found the same commitment to quality and client-centred approach by members of staff as she did three years ago. In her report she said that, “Feedback from clients was very positive during the Accreditation Review, with many examples given of how the service had benefited them and, in some cases, had exceeded their expectations”.
Some of the client comments highlighted in the Assessor’s Report include:
“Out of ten I’d give them 11”.
“The service has been absolutely brilliant. Very glad I didn’t run away at the start”.
“The Adviser was a mine of information about different things – knows everything”.
In addition to assistance with the personal and professional development Advisers also offer help with the completion of application forms, CV writing and interview preparation. The team has developed a suite of modules to assist clients in the following areas: Skills Assessment; CV Development; Job Search Techniques and Interview Skills.
